The intention of my artwork is to evoke feeling. I do not necessarily strive for an intellectual understanding of my creation, but rather wish to affect my viewer in the emotional. My hope is that my audience experiences understanding in the heart before they do in the brain and maybe thereafter they are able to make a head and heart connection - which would really be beautiful. I hope for my audience to draw on its own emotional experiences in order to better comprehend my artwork, rather than try and understand what I am feeling. Empathy is imperative in grasping a level of understanding in the other, thus in order to make a strong connection, one must draw on their own life, so that they might be able to better know about another’s. Ultimately, I intend for my viewer to feel before they know, and if this is the case, then my goal is accomplished.
